My two-year old loves his new tugboat! I haven't tried to figure out how it works yet (scientifically), but all he has to do is submerge it in water and it makes great "toot-toot" sounds. We've only had it a month, so I don't know if cleaning it is a problem - there is an open part around the bottom that's kind of like a moat that allows water to get into the body, thus somehow making the sound.
